Sabes Mi Nombre?
I am the river
Of butterfly wings
Floating north,
Stirring the air to chaos.
Sabes mi nombre?
I am a southerly breeze
Filling the air
With spicy sweetness
Of the aspen grove.
Sabes mi nombre?
I fly in on gander’s wings
Searching for a nesting site,
Filling the air with rowdiness
On recently thawed ponds.
Sabes mi nombre?
I float in on lamb’s-wool clouds
Across a sea of endless green,
Filling the air with warmth
After Boreas harsh rule.
Sabes mi nombre?
Sabes mi nombre?
I am the river of life.
I am Primavera,
Welcoming warmth
From the south.

Speed of Light
Slanted rays of afternoon sun
Illuminate feathery plumage
Of autumn’s Miscanthus
Swaying in a gentle breeze.
Does light ever slow down
From its frantic race
To get somewhere on time,
Long enough to enjoy
The artwork
Of its bright brush strokes?
