The American Duchess was a river cruise paddlewheeler owned by the American Queen Steamboat Company. The vessel was the third of four boats in the former American Queen Steamboat Company fleet and was advertised as being the most luxurious option of the line's vessels.
Before it was the American Duchess, it was the Bettendorf Capri.
American Duchess sprang from Isle of Capri, a Bettendorf, Iowa gaming boat that was converted and upgraded for cruise service at Bollinger Shipyard in Morgan City, Louisiana. It was inaugurated on Aug. 14, 2017 in New Orleans.
It launched as the Bettendorf Capri in 1995 and was retrofitted and relaunched as the American Duchess in 2016.
